(PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA) -- The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District (PVPUSD) today announced, pending Board approval, the appointment of Peninsula High School Assistant Principal Mr. Michael Wanmer as the new principal at Vista Grande Elementary School. Mr. Wanmer assumes the duties from Dr. Taylor Holloway who has accepted a position as principal of a K-8 school in Orange County.
"We thank Dr. Holloway for her fifteen years of service to our district and we congratulate her on the next exciting step in her career,” stated superintendent Cherniss. “Michael Wanmer will be a tremendous fit for the Vista Grande community. His leadership and enthusiasm for learning will be embraced by our Vista Grande students, staff, and parents."
Mr. Wanmer has served as the associate principal at Peninsula High School since February, 2014. He oversaw Peninsula’s athletic program and helped develop and implement the school’s behavior intervention program and a multi-tiered system of support for students. Mr. Wanmer has invested tremendously in the academic and overall social emotional well-being of the students at Peninsula. Prior to his role as associate principal, Mr. Wanmer was a U.S. History teacher at Palos Verdes Intermediate School and physical education teacher at Marina High School in Huntington Beach.
Said Board of Education President Suzanne Seymour: “Dr. Holloway has provided leadership in all of her roles while at PVPUSD. Although I am sure the families at Vista Grande will miss her, we wish her well in her professional journey. Michael Wanmer has been a passionate advocate for students while at Peninsula and PVIS. He will bring that passion to Vista Grande and continue the school's dedication to excellence.”
