PVPUSD APPROVES INTERDISTRICT GRANDPARENT PERMIT
Grandchildren of Residents May Apply to Enroll in PVPUSD Schools
PALOS VERDES ESTATES (February 28, 2019) – At its February 27, 2019 meeting, the PVPUSD Board of Education voted to approve interdistrict permits for students who have a grandparent residing within the attendance boundaries of the District.
Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss stated, “This is an incredible opportunity to honor and reconnect community members with our schools by serving their grandchildren. I am so pleased that our district will now be educating these students.”
The District will begin accepting interdistrict permit applications effective March 15, 2019. Applicants must first receive an interdistrict transfer release from their district of residence as part of the application process.
“Our Board of Education was thrilled to implement this creative approach to improving our schools, by involving grandparents more in their grandchildrens’ education,” said Board President Linda Reid. “I have already heard from many interested residents and look forward to seeing their grandchildren in our schools in the fall.”
Parents, not grandparents, should come to the District Enrollment Center at 375 Via Almar in Palos Verdes Estates to enroll or call (310) 896-3401 with questions. Additional information regarding interdistrict permits and the application are available at: www.pvpusd.net/permits/
